“Even as a tense exploration of difficult family relationships...this would be gripping, but Kocur continually nudges at the bigger picture.” – Screen International
On holiday in Tenerife, Spain, Ukranian tourists Roman and Anastasiia’s biggest concern is trying to entertain their restless son and moody teenage daughter, permanently on her phone. Little do they know that their lives will be upended on the last day of their vacation. At the airport, their flight is cancelled: Russia has invaded Ukraine. Trapped on the island, the tourists find themselves trapped in a state of limbo.
Damian Kocur’s sophomore feature is a tense drama about a family forced to navigate a surreal nightmare as they slowly transform from tourists to refugees, with exceptional performances throughout, particularly from Roman Lutskyi as a father whose initial facade of control begins to crumble as their situation becomes more and more uncertain.
