“It will be difficult to find two better performances than these two acting veterans this year.”- ICS
“An inventive exploration of perceptions of death, punctuated by music and modern dance sequence” - Cineuropa
In Carlos Marqués-Marcet’s ambitious and moving work which was awarded the Jury Prize for Best Film in the Platform Section at the Toronto International Film Festival, a vibrant septuagenarian is diagnosed with an incurable illness and decides to end her days in a clinic in Switzerland. Her inseparable husband of over 40 years feels unable to face life without her, and their daughter becomes a mediator between them whilst grappling with her mother’s mortality. The three embark on a fascinating and profound journey of love and self-discovery.
Featuring standout performances from Alfredo Castro and Ángela Molina (an Almodóvar and Buñuel veteran) and surprising musical numbers that bring to mind Lars von Trier’s Dancer in the Dark, They Will Be Dust is a daring, original and breathtaking dance with death.
