“Filmmaker Dominik Mencej announces himself as a significant new talent with this achingly tender road movie” – Screen Daily
Slovenia, the spring of 1999. Inspired by their love of Easy Rider, two friends from a small village decide to transform their mopeds into choppers and embark on a journey across the country. Looking for freedom and love, and running from the conservative shackles of tradition, they travel through dreams of the past and visions of the future. On the road through Slovenia and Croatia – countries recently separated from Yugoslavia – they are accompanied by a young runaway woman with a mysterious past and an old biker who has seen the world in search of freedom. They challenge each other through shared experiences and ride deeper and deeper into the unknown.
In this gentle story about the search for one’s true self, director Dominik Mencej announces himself as a major talent. His use of poetic realism and the film's freewheeling structure puts the viewer in the driving seat of this thought-provoking and emotional journey.
