Not Such an Easy Life

Not Such an Easy Life

Australian premiere

“Félix Viscarret portrays the mid-life crisis, the evanescence of professional success, immature male friendship and modern fatherhood with intelligent humour.” — Cineuropa

Isaías (played with charm and bruised ego by Miki Esparbé) had been a promising architect as a young man, but by the time he turned 40 the dreams and expectations he held for his personal and professional life gradually faded away. Now, every decision he makes to solve his problems only makes things worse, threatening his professional and personal life. With his marriage on the rocks, his business partner and best friend (Aléx Garcia) at a loss as to what is happening, pushes Isaías to make some bold and drastic life decisions.

In his fourth feature film, director Félix Viscarret deals with humour and insight, a universal topic: the inevitable mid-life crisis people face in their 40s. Handsomely shot and impeccably acted, Not Such an Easy Life makes great use of its setting, a picturesque small Northern Spanish city where the architecture becomes another compelling protagonist in the story.
