“Macdonald has crafted one of the most riveting rise-fall-redemption story arcs in documentary format in recent memory, with Galliano himself as his unreliable - but never less than compelling - guide” — IndieWire
From the mid 1980’s until 2011 John Galliano, the flamboyant, iconoclastic head designer at Dior, was considered one of the most important fashion designers in history. But in February 2011 a video emerged of Galliano spewing antisemitic slurs in a Parisian bar. He was fired by Dior, berated by the Jewish community and ostracised from the fashion world. He lost everything. Then he tried to make amends.
Directed by Academy-Award-winning Kevin Macdonald (One Day in September, Touching the Void) and featuring candid interviews with Galliano and others, including Kate Moss, Penelope Cruz and Charlize Theron, the film is not only the story of a troubled and talented man but a film that raises many prescient questions about today's cultural and political landscape and the capacity for forgiving transgressions.
